SalesQL accelerates your lead generation projects by helping you to organize your contacts in different ways. Two of the most common methods are based on folders and tags, and today we're going to dive into both of them.
Folder-based strategy
This strategy assumes that a folder is a project and tags are key attributes (or subgroups).
So, when you start a new prospecting project, you will be saving contacts to a new folder. Moreover, you can classify them by assigning tags.
It works in a similar way to organizing files on a computer: files that are related to one another are grouped inside a folder and it is possible to group similar items by name or type.
How to proceed
1. Go to the SalesQL web dashboard and create a new work folder. For example, 'Sales Campaign.'
2. Install the SalesQL browser extension if you haven't already done so.
3. Visit LinkedIn, enter your keywords in the search bar, and apply your desired filters. As an example, let’s search for CEOs in California.
4. When viewing the search results, open the SalesQL browser extension (you must be logged in first).
5. In the extension, above the contact list, select the folder you created as a work folder. From now on, all contacts you add will be saved to the 'Sales Campaign' folder.
5. Add the profiles you are interested in contacting.
6. Go to the SalesQL web dashboard and open the 'Sales Campaign' folder (if the folder was previously opened you can use the refresh button, or reload the page to see all profiles you have added via the extension).
7. That’s all! Now you can review, search, and manage your contacts. You can also tag and assign contacts to yourself or other team members.
Additionally, you can use the Lead Status feature to classify your contacts according to their position in your pipeline.
Tips:
- If you are in a team and all working on the same project, you should all select the same folder on your extensions.
- You can use the 'Assign To' feature in the extension or dashboard to assign prospects to members of your team.
Advantages:

Allows you to work individually or as part of a team on the same project.

Provides better listing and searching performance, especially if you have a large amount of prospects.

Keeps your projects separated in different folders.

Allows teams to run multiple projects in parallel for added scalability.

Allows you to split big projects into smaller ones by separating them into multiple folders (a typical methodology that is used by most of our customers is to assign one team member by folder).
Recommended for:

Teams and individuals that perform recurring project-oriented activities that can be tracked using a pipeline (such as recruiting, marketing and sales).

Team members who work independently of one another for a manager (1 team member - 1 project).
Tag-based strategy
This strategy assumes that a tag is a project, so your prospecting activities typically involve saving contacts in an existing folder and tagging them with your ongoing project name.
It works similarly to saving contacts in an address book, so every contact is classified (tagged) according to your needs (customers, providers, employees and so on).
For example, let’s say you are a professional recruiter and your customer, ACME, has asked you to source candidates for development and UX positions (so you have two recruitment projects).
How to proceed
1. Go to the SalesQL web dashboard and select an existing folder or create a new folder. For example: 'ACME Recruitment.'
2. If you haven't already done so, install the SalesQL browser extension.
3. Go to LinkedIn, enter your keywords in the search bar and apply your desired filters. For the first position, we´'re going to search for software engineers in Barcelona.
4. When viewing the search results, open the SalesQL browser extension (you must be logged in first).
5. In the extension, above the contact list, select the folder you are happy to use as a work folder. From now on, all contacts you add will be saved in the ´'ACME Recruitment' folder.
6. Add the profiles you are interested in contacting.
7. Go to the SalesQL web dashboard and open the folder 'ACME Recruitment´' (if the folder was previously opened, you can use the refresh button or reload the page to see all profiles you have added using the extension). Now tag those profiles with the keyword 'engineer.'
8. Repeat the previous steps for sourcing UX designers and you are done (to recap: search for UX designers in Barcelona on LinkedIn, then add your selected candidates using the extension and tag their profiles with the keyword 'UX' on the SalesQL dashboard).
In the end, your 'ACME Recruitment' folder will look like this:
Tips:

Contacts can be tagged individually or in bulk.

Segment your list as much as possible. As contact lists grow in size, they become harder to maintain.
Advantages:

Allows you to create general-purpose contact lists for future activities.

Useful as a draft list for selecting the most suitable leads before building your pipeline (by adding/removing/tagging leads).
Recommended for:

Individuals that run a limited number of small-scale prospecting projects simultaneously.

Individuals or teams happy to create low-segmentation contact lists.
